Ca Na Beach: What You Need to Know Before Going
Massive granite boulders, clear water, and zero crowds. Ca Na is Ninh Thuan's most underrated beach.
What Is Ca Na?
A 60km drive south of Phan Rang, Ca Na is not a typical beach. Instead of flat white sand stretching to the horizon, you get massive granite boulders — some the size of trucks — scattered across crystal-clear water. It looks like a giant dumped a pile of rocks into the sea and called it a day.
It's photogenic in a way that flat beaches never are. And because it's slightly out of the way, you'll rarely share it with more than a handful of people.
When to Go
Good: March to October. Calm sea, warm water, clear visibility.
Avoid: November to February. Waves get rough, the boulders become slippery and dangerous, and swimming is out.
Best time of day: Early morning (6-8am). The light hits the boulders at a low angle and turns everything warm and golden. Also much cooler before the sun climbs.
Getting There
From Phan Rang: ~60km south on Highway 1. By motorbike it's about 1 hour. By car, slightly less.
The beach is right off the highway — you'll see the boulders from the road. There's no formal parking lot; just pull over where others do.
What to Do
Rock Scrambling
The main draw. Climb over and between the boulders, find your own private pool, sit in the water between two massive rocks. Bring rubber-soled sandals — the rocks are slippery when wet.
Swimming
Between the boulders, the water is usually calm and very clear. Not deep — good for relaxed swimming and floating.
Photography
Every angle is a shot. Best light is early morning or late afternoon. Avoid midday — harsh overhead light flattens everything.
Eating
Small seafood eateries dot the roadside just north of the beach. Fresh fish, grilled prawns, clam soup. Cash only, prices reasonable.
Common Mistakes
Going in the wrong season: November-February, the sea turns rough and the rocks become genuinely dangerous. More than one person has slipped badly.
Wearing flip-flops: You'll regret it within 5 minutes. The rocks are uneven and often wet.
Skipping food: There's not much near the beach itself. Eat at one of the roadside spots on your way in or out.
Expecting facilities: No showers, no changing rooms, minimal shade. Bring what you need.
Combine With
Ca Na and Mui Dinh Lighthouse are 20-30km apart. Easy to do both in one day trip from Phan Rang.
